The book still has a lot of things that did not show up in the movie allowing you to have a enjoyable read even if you’ve seen the movie.

For a book that is about dinosaurs that escaped and killed people, this book has a very philosophical procceeding. The book starts in Bahia anasco, a village on the west coast of costa rica, where a doctor is asked to treat a person badly hurt in a construction accident. The person bringing the injured boy says that he was run over by a back hoe, but when the doctor looks at him it looks like he was mauled. When she takes the boy to the operating room, her native assistant starts to clean the wound and the boy suddenly said “lo sa raptor” and dies soon after, when the doctor inquired with her assistant he told that raptor means a kidnapper who takes children at night. the doctor checks the english dictionary and finds that the word raptor means bird of prey or plunderer. With this Crichton ends the chapter, and that shows one of the main differences between the book and the movie. since the movie needed to fit within 2 to 3 hours, and so they glossed over this part and rushed to the dinosaurs and and just went with the main points of the story which means most of the story is cut away, and the suspense is lost. In the book the first chapter leaves the readers with many questions, and eager for answers.

The book can be considered 1 1/2 of the movies, the book has the story of jurrasic park and half the story of the lost world. The book does not rush into everything which makes it very suspensefull, and everytime the suspense is released it starts building up again

The book also incorporates the science of the story in a more believable manner compared to the movie. and all in all it felt more complete than the movie which in itself felt full.

A few of the important characters are, Alan grant, a palaeontologist (who is the same as in the movie), his student Ellie Sattler, a paleo biologist, Ian Malcolm, a mathematician, Timothy(Tim) and Alexis(lex) who are siblings (unlike the movie, the book shows Timothy as older than lex, Dennis Nedry, the main antagonist, Mr Hammond the creator of the park , Donald Gennaro a lawyer for the firm that sponsored the park, Harding, the vet and Muldoon, the designer of the park, Dr wu, the person who created the dinosaurs and Ed Regis, the public relations manager for the park.

Jurrasic park, by Michael Crichton, is one of the few books that I that I have read fully and enjoyed thoroughly.
