There has rightfully been a lot of worry about global warming and resource shortage and such, but there is one substance which could solve all these problems if we can get to it.
Hydrogen is the single most abundant element in the universe. If we could just convince the big oil companies it’s value as a fuel, they could probably fund missions to extract it from space because it is unfortunately not abundant on earth.
If they could do that, then we would have a literal wonder fuel. It combusts with oxygen and produces a flame which is completely carbon free. Meaning hydrogen power plants will be completely green. The only fly in the ointment is the safety. Though that would be very similar to the ones found in rockets which also combust hydrogen.
The cherry on top of this is that burning hydrogen with oxygen produces water as a byproduct. While the water would be completely pure and not potable. Making it potable would be as simple as mixing in the right salts and then we have a power plant producing clean electricity with that only byproduct being water.
